He was fascinated by PRIDE's Fantasista Kazushi Sakuraba, and was pierced by the fight between Rumina Sato and Kaoru Uno in Shooto. He thought, "I want to do the same thing," and decided to go into MMA at the age of 20. However, he had no experience in martial arts, but he practiced from scratch and grew to the point where he won the middleweight division of the DEEP Future King Tournament in 2005. From 2008, he mainly fought in Shooto, and in 2011 he also participated in Pancrase and HEAT. In June 2019, he clashed with Souki in the main event of the Shooto Fukuoka tournament, with Souki at stake for the Shooto Pacific Rim Welterweight Championship. In that match, he lost by a narrow 1-2 decision and was unable to win the crown. After that, due to the influence of COVID-19, he stayed away from matches for a while, but in May 2022, he got a chance for a revenge match with Souki for the same belt. In the first round, he struggled with Souki's skillful body control, but in the second round, he started a striking match and won by KO with a precise right straight. He is now the 6th Shooto Pan Pacific Welterweight Champion.
